It’s time to get it to the Greek! The Saint Demetrios Greek Festival has been a longstanding Seattle tradition since 1960 and it’s back again for the last weekend of September.
Experience authentic Greek culture in the heart of Seattle’s Montlake neighbourhood.
There will be music, dancing, and a whole lot of delicious food!
Here’s everything to look forward to at Seattle’s Saint Demetrios Greek Festival.
What to expect
Get ready for an authentic celebration of Greek culture. There will be delicious traditional cuisine to try like spanakopita, Souvlakia and loukoumades alongside delicacies like baklava. All homemade and served fresh!
Don’t worry, if you’re a vegetarian there are still tons of options like Falafel sandwiches, dolmades, Greek salad, spanakopita, tiropita, and Greek fries. Yum!
While you’re nursing your food coma, enjoy live performances all weekend long from St. Demetrios’ award-winning Greek dance groups.
The St. Demetrios Church is proud to have a large and active Greek Folk Dance program with over 120 dancers and singers enrolled from ages 4 years old to adult. This program is designed to teach the Greek folk traditions of dance, music, and song.
Along with the all-day background Greek music, there will be daily live performances with the local Bouzouki artist Takis Dotis and his Mad Greeks. Look for them on the stage in the large tent!
You can also expect shopping, Greek wine tasting, and docent-led church tours. There’s really something for everyone, even if you’re just there for the food!
This festival is free to attend, but if you plan on doing some shopping, keep in mind that it is a cashless event. Credit cards are accepted at all vendors, with gift cards available at the information booth.
Getting there
There will be street parking at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, but we suggest taking transit if you can. You can also take advantage of the free shuttle that will be running between the festival and the U of W Link Light Rail Station.
