Oakleigh Glendi returns to Melbourne’s Warrawee Park on Saturday and Sunday 1 for its 11th year, with two days of Greek music, dancing, food and family entertainment.
Organized by the Greek Orthodox Community of Oakleigh and District, the festival drew more than 20,000 visitors last year. Greek singer Kelly Kelekidou will headline Saturday’s program, performing from 7.30 pm before a fireworks display brings the first day to a close.
The weekend lineup will feature traditional Greek dance groups, performances by Melbourne’s Korean, Serbian and Russian communities, and appearances by local Greek schools and cultural associations.
Visitors can also enjoy food stalls, a cooking stage, an artisan market, carnival rides and children’s activities. The popular loukoumades eating competition will return on both days.
The festival celebrates Greek culture and traditions while bringing together Melbourne’s diverse communities.
