ATHENS – Summer is here and the song ‘Galiantra’ spreads its wings with the voice of Kleoniki Demiri and music and lyrics by Panagiotis Zavitsas.
The musical line of the song stands out for its medieval timbre, which is framed by an excellent group of musicians and instruments such as the ney, the duduk, the oud, the violin, the double bass, the percussion. The lyrics weave poetic images from the sky and nature, describing the intensity of the moment and the silence that distance brings.
‘Galiantra’ is the thoughts and the cycle of changes in emotions. ‘Galiantra’ is the loaded sentences and the unexpected pauses, the eternal connection of the carelessness of love and the depletion that follows its absence. It is a song about what blooms, changes and transforms within us.
The idea for the song was born spontaneously, during a rehearsal break, over two cups of coffee. A brief dialogue between Panagiotis Zavitsas and Kleoniki Demiri was enough to give life to a melody that, as the composer himself says, began “like a conversation between friends, like a summer breeze that became a melody.”
