Vancouver’s largest Greek festival to close several busy roads this weekend | Daily Hive


Greek Day is just around the corner in Vancouver, with plenty of outdoor fun, but also road closures that drivers and commuters should be aware of.

On Sunday, June 28, Greek Day on Broadway returns from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Kitsilano.

The beloved celebration will feature a world of authentic Greek food and beverages, so bring your appetite. There will be souvlaki, spanakopita, loukoumades, and more. Admission is free.

There will also be plenty of vendors, community booths, and live entertainment to check out during the annual Greek Day.

The City of Vancouver is advising the public that W. Broadway will be closed on June 28 from Stephens Street to Waterloo Street.

Sections of several side streets and alleys in the area will also be closed, including:

  • Macdonald Street
  • Mackenzie Street
  • Bayswater Street
  • Carnarvon Street
  • Balaclava Street
  • šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm Musqueamview
  • Blenheum Street

The road closures will be in place for the majority of the day, starting at 5 a.m. and ending at 11:30 p.m.

The City of Vancouver advises that emergency access will be maintained during this time.

This year, we’re going bigger and bolder, inviting you to immerse yourself in the heart of Greek culture right here in our vibrant city,” said the Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC on its website.

The event is the largest one-day Greek festival in Vancouver, attracting more than 100,000 people every year.

This year will also have a marketplace (agora) where you can find everything from artisan crafts to Greek products. Visitors will also enjoy music and entertainment on the live stages throughout the day.
