End of the School Year Celebration at the Greek School of Plato in Brooklyn


BROOKLYN, NY – The end of the school year ceremony at the Greek School of Plato in Brooklyn was held in a festive atmosphere on June 24.

In the auditorium, students from pre-Kindergarten to the 8th grade sang, recited poems, performed a play, danced, and received their graduation certificates from their teachers. The top students of the senior classes were also honored.

Principal Leonidas Papoulias, in his remarks, welcomed the parents and grandparents, thanked the teaching staff, Panagiota Kokkoros, Angela Mousouroulis, Katina Kampouras, Katerina Koulianou, Ierothea Ikonomou, Naouma Angelakakis, Nancy Panagopoulou, Marianna Karageorgiou, Dimitra Tsafos, Paris Papadatos, Apostolis Papadatos, for their professionalism, dedication and love for the school, the parents’ association and the school committee for their unwavering help and support, and above all congratulated the students for their diligence and the efforts they made.

Papoulias added: “This year was very constructive, enjoyable and with a lot of effort from our students.”

“It was a year of progress and creation,” he continued. “The students gained experience, knowledge, learned about their language, culture, and heritage. This is also the goal of the school, for the students to have Greece in their soul and heart.”

“Today, we recognize and honor their efforts in a school that we must emphasize comes after their American day school,” Papoulias noted. “I wish you a good, restful and creative summer and we are waiting for you for the new school year that begins on September 8.”

The school’s Board of Directors President John Geroulanos expressed his joy and pride for the progress of all the students and referred to the work and efforts so that the Plato school can continue to offer quality education and upbringing commensurate with Greek culture and the principles of the homeland.

The school’s Board of Directors Vice President Kostas Karkas, said: “Today marks not only the end of classes, but the completion of an important cycle of effort, learning and personal development for each of us.”

“The students strengthened their connection with the language, history and culture of Greece,” he said. “As for the graduates, they are the future of Hellenism in the Greek Diaspora and their path honors the community.”

Parents’ Association Vice President Maria Karkas congratulated the students for the zeal and diligence they showed, thanked the teachers who, beyond knowledge, offered the children love, security, and supplies for the future, the parents for their excellent cooperation, and wished everyone a good reunion in September.
