42nd Annual Greek Fest kicks off in Huntington

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – For the 42nd year, St. George Greek Orthodox Church is the place to be in Huntington. This mid-September weekend is bringing out quite the crowd for Greek Fest.

Friday morning, folks waited in line for some fine Greek cuisine an hour before the food was even ready.

The hours of operation:

Friday, Sept. 13 from 11a.m. through 8 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 14 from 11a.m. through 8 p.m.

Visitors can take church tours, shop with vendors, and listen to music from a band performing traditional Greek songs, and eat Greek food and pastries.

Those who work with Greek Fest say this operation is a project of love and dedication.

“Ever since I was a little kid I’ve been dancing alongside my cousins, a lot of these great people in the booth behind me, we’ve been putting this festival on for years. We enjoy spending a lot of time together, and even if we’re out sweating in the hot sun we are doing something we love and it’s our culture,” Constantine Svingos said.
