SPRINGFIELD – The Glendi festival celebrates Greek food and culture.
Sponsored by the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the three-day festival continues through Sunday.
At this festival, you are what you eat: Greek.
And there is plenty from which to choose. The options include: Loukoumathes, a hot-puffed, deep-fried pastry; kourabiethes, shortbread butter cookies, pastitsio, Greek lasagna; spanakopita, feta cheese with spinach layered in phyllo dough, baklava, layers of phyllo dough filled with nuts and spices and covered in syrup and more.
In addition, there is live Greek music and Greek folk dancing by the Glendi Dancers.
Hours on Sunday are noon to 5 p.m.
