Post-Labor Day, summer’s still bringin’ the heat. Try to stay cool this San Diego weekend with tasty eats, an event that recalls a classic sitcom and wiener dogs on waves – hey, it could happen.

You have two chances each to see San Diego Music Award winners Rebecca Jade and Whitney Shay, including on the same bill for “Celestial Sirens” at the Brooks Theater in Oceanside at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $30. Their other weekend gigs:

  • Shay, joined by her quartet, performs at Dim Sum & Jazz at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Reserve a spot by calling Golden Island Dim Sum in Mira Mesa.
  • Jade shares the spotlight at Humphrey’s Backstage Live at 6 p.m. Sunday with guitarist Patrick Yandall. Tickets are few and start at $18.

The Cardiff Greek Festival opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, hosted by Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Grab a bite, enjoy live Greek music and dancing, view exhibits and shop for treasures at the bazaar. The festival continues at 11 a.m. Sunday. Adult admission is $4. Parking is free at MiraCosta College.

Get stompin’ at the 27th annual Julian Grape Stomp Festa at Menghini Winery at 11 a.m. Saturday. The All Star Lucy Band and Beard and The Bird supply the tunes, and in a nod to the classic “I Love Lucy” grape stomp episode, don your best red wig for the Lucille Ball-lookalike contest. Of course, if you don’t look like Lucy, you may stomp like her, and quench your thirst later with a taste or two. Julian Chamber of Commerce,

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club hosts its College Day at the Third Floor Stretch Run at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. That means showing a student ID gets you free racetrack admission and a seat in the grandstand. Races, which start at 1:30 p.m., include the Del Mar Debutante and Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Surf’s always up for people, but pups get their day in the sun at 8 a.m. Sunday as Helen Woodward Animal Center hosts the 19th annual Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon at Dog Beach Del Mar. Dozens of surfing dogs will compete in 10-minute heats, while their peeps groove to live music, play in the children’s activity area, and prep pups for the costume contest and free agility course.

The second annual Sabor Del Barrio self-guided food tour begins in Barrio Logan at noon Sunday, with dozens of local restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, breweries and distilleries offering tastes and samples. Also enjoy access to the Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center and the Atheneum at Bread & Salt. Tickets start at $40 and rise day-of.
