Tornos News | Alexandroupolis joins ‘WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities’


The inclusion of the Municipality of Alexandroupolis in the “WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities” network of the World Health Organization, the municipal authority announced on Friday, ANA reports.
It is the first municipality in Greece to become a member of the network. “The Municipality of Alexandroupolis takes special care of the elderly, as a large percentage of them experience loneliness, in the absence of a supportive environment. In remote settlements, the largest percentage of the population is elderly people, and many elderly people do not have relatives in the Municipality of Alexandroupolis”, it is stated in the relevant WHO web link ( https://extranet.who.int/agefriendlyworld/network/municipality-of-alexandroupolis/ ).
