Xannova Xan spoke exclusively to Euromix about her participation in the Greek national selection for Eurovision 2026 with a song written by Keren Peles and produced by Tomer Biran. She shared her thoughts, emotions, and views on the growing politicization of the contest in recent years – as well as the reactions faced by Yuval Raphael.
A New Beginning with a Powerful Ballad
Xannova reveals that her new entry is a strong, emotional ballad — perhaps the most demanding song of her career. This year, she leaves behind big choreographies and explosive staging, opting instead for a simple, clean performance that focuses entirely on her voice and emotion.
Admiration for Yuval Raphael
A significant part of the interview centers on Yuval Raphael, whom Xannova describes as a “role model.”
“I admire Yuval for her strength,” she says. “What she went through last year — the boos and the tension on stage — was unfair. I don’t believe politics have a place in Eurovision. Yuval faced everything with dignity and courage. I deeply respect her.”
The singer does not hide her disappointment with the negative atmosphere seen in recent contests, stressing that Eurovision should remain a place of unity:
“Music unites. That’s the meaning of Eurovision.”
Music Above All
Xannova makes it clear that she is not affected by the political reactions surrounding the presence of Israeli creators in this year’s Greek entry:
“I focus on the song, the collaboration, the art. Most people react positively; the rest are simply part of the conversation.”
Now the Stage Has the Final Word
With a ballad that, as she says, reveals the deepest sides of herself — and with the belief that art can bridge cultures — Xannova Xan is preparing for the Greek national final with dedication. Yuval Raphael remains a constant reminder to her that strength and dignity can prevail even on the toughest stages.
