Run away with the circus as Cirque du Soleil returns with Corteo this weekend. Join Mauro the clown as he dreams up his own carnivalesque funeral attended by caring angels and encounters a colourful cast of characters from his past while reflecting back on his life. Marvel at the incredible aerial acrobatics, bouncing beds, suspended pole, cyr wheels, teeterboards, juggling and much more. Corteo is on at Adelaide Entertainment Centre until October 5.
Australian Photographic Dog Prize at David Roche Gallery
Celebrate our best friends at the inaugural Best in Show 2025: Australian Photographic Dog Prize exhibition, on display at David Roche Gallery. This installation features 80 prints in categories such as dog portrait, dogs and companions, dogs in action and puppies. This is Australia’s only biennial art prize dedicated to domestic dogs and honours the late David Roche, known for his love of our four-legged companions. This installation is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays until October 25, with entry $12 for adults and $10 for concessions, while children under 12 are free.
BMG Art exhibition
Make your way to BMG Art on Halifax Street for a joint exhibition featuring artwork by renowned drawer Christopher Orchard and sculptor Giuseppe Matteo Pappalardo. Orchard’s installation, titled Connections, includes a series of black and white drawings, while Giuseppe’s part of the exhibition, Botanical Reliquaries, features sculptures inspired by botanical collections and made with metal, wood and acrylics. This exhibition is showing until October 25.
Odyssey Greek Festival
Be transported to Greece, with its scenic islands and ancient monuments, this October for the 18th Odyssey Greek Festival. Hosted by the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia, this festival celebrates all things Greek, with art, culture, food, music, film and more. Expect everything from loukoumade cooking classes to Zorba dancing, beautiful bouzouki music, a Greek film festival and much more. The Odyssey Greek Festival is on from October 3 to November 1 at various locations across Adelaide.
Tails from the Coasts at the Museum of Economic Botany
Experience the beauty of Southeast Asia at Tails from the Coasts: Nature Stories of Singapore. This exhibition features 200-year-old watercolours depicting the flora and fauna from Singapore and the Malay Peninsula, including a Malayan bear-cat, flying lizards and winghead sharks. Dating back to 19th-century colonial rule, these paintings now form part of the National Museum of Singapore’s collection. The paintings have travelled overseas for the first time ever as part of a nationwide tour and will be exhibited at Adelaide Botanic Garden’s Museum of Economic Botany from October 4, 2025, to February 1, 2026.
Government House garden tour
Enjoy a rare glimpse of the grounds at Government House this Friday on a guided tour of its established gardens. Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, and Mr Rod Bunten will open the gates of Government House for this special occasion. Visit the Governor’s colourful rose garden or see what’s in season at her vegetable patch. Led by a volunteer tour guide, you will also learn interesting details about the garden’s design, the symbolism of its plants and how it is maintained. These tours are hosted on the first Friday of each month from September to May at 10.45-11.45am. All members of the public are welcome, but bookings are essential.
