Weather shifts, bringing storms

[InTime News]

After a long spell of clear skies, a change in the weather is expected across Greece, starting on Friday afternoon in the north and expanding southward on Saturday, bringing strong but localized thunderstorms and strong winds.

According to an emergency weather bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Service (EMY) on Thursday, heavy rain and thunderstorms will first hit Macedonia Friday afternoon, lasting through early Saturday, with central Macedonia – and particularly the popular tourist destination of Halkidiki – affected until midday Saturday.

The islands of the Sporades in the northwestern Aegean will see storms from early Saturday morning until the afternoon. Central Greece and the Peloponnese are forecast to be impacted from late morning through the evening, while Epirus will be affected Saturday afternoon.

The bulletin will be updated in the next 24 hours, EMY said.
