This week 47,461 students across Victoria who have completed the VCE received their ATAR scores. Victorian students are achieving ATARs in record numbers, with 4.7 per cent more (2,222) students receiving an ATAR this year than last year.
While 41 students achieved the highest possible rank of 99.95, up from 39 last year, and the average ATAR for this year’s cohort is 69.52, a slight increase from 2023.
VTAC CEO Teresa Tjia congratulated all students who have completed year 12.
“Completing year 12 is a fantastic achievement. Take the time to celebrate your results with the friends, parents, carers, and teachers who have supported you along the way,” Tjia said in a media release.
Eleni Calypso Gerostamoulos from Wesley College received an ATAR of 96.05. She undertook Global Politics, English, Music Repertoire Performance, Theatre Studies, French and Literature.
Eleni was the Arts Prefect at the school, a Principal Honours Roll student and was involved in a number of different co-curricular activities.
She curated student mentorship programs, was a lead performer in theatre productions, performed in three choirs and two orchestras, competed in national music competitions including the Generations in Jazz Festival (winning in her division), played sport, wrote for the school magazine and organised student events.
Eleni’s grandparents Vasilios and Helen Danos told Neos Kosmos she is hoping to study a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the University of Melbourne.
Cheltenham Secondary College student Anastasia Konstantina Karagianni earned a 96.9 ATAR while Melbourne Grammar School student Dimitri Gasis celebrated his ATAR score of 98.90 with his happy family in the early hours of the morning.
Dimitri was awarded a school prize in philosophy and wishes to complete a double degree in Law/Commerce.
Parade College student Andrew Katsaros’s ATAR score was 94.45. He wants to study Software Engineering at RMIT University city campus.
Year 11 students have also got their study scores for Year 12 subjects they did in advance.
Amelia Milionis, Year 11 student at Loreto Mandeville Hall Toorak got a study score of 49 in her Year 12 Business Management subject.
Her sister Chloe said the family is so proud of her.
Aidan Psomas is the 2024 Caulfield Grammar School dux, receiving an ATAR of 99.80.
Pantelis Stefanidis is the 2024 dux for St John’s College in Preston with an ATAR of 89.95.
“I want to study as an engineer and hopefully contribute significantly to the future of the field. I also hope to stay connected to my college and the community that has supported me,” he said.
Eva Pantelopoulos received a 98.4 ATAR and also featured in 3 subjects honours rolls: English (47), Physical Education (46) and Psychology (42).
The Firbank Grammar School student wants to study Science and Law.
“She was very dedicated and worked extremely hard this year. Her family is very proud of her,” her father Laki Pantelopoulos told Neos Kosmos.
Star of the Sea College Dux is Alyssa Vais who got a 99.6 ATAR and a perfect score of 50 in English. She also got 49 in Legal Studies and 45 in Biology.
St Kevin’s College Toorak’s Theofilos Romanidis achieved a 90.45 ATAR. His brother Yiannis Romanidis in Year 11 received a 47-study score for General Maths.
Amelie Elektra Gardiakos has attended Kardinia International College in Geelong since three-year-old kindergarten. That equates to 15 years at the same school and has achieved a near perfect study score of 49 in her Year 12 Business Management & 45 in Psychology. She achieved an ATAR of 97.85 and has applied for a Bachelor of Commerce at Melbourne University. She also received news that she has been awarded a scholarship from Melbourne University.
Nikita Dassios completed year 12 at Haileybury College and managed to achieve an ATAR score of 99.10.
He looking at pursuing a commerce degree at the University of Melbourne followed by the Juris Doctor with the intention of working in the investment banking sector.
Marco Pasakos achieved the highest ATAR of 99.80 at Ballarat Grammar.
He got a raw 47 in Chemistry, 40 in Specialist Maths, 45 in Literature and a perfect score of 50 in Biology.
Last year he was featured in Neos Kosmos’s high achievers list with a 44 in Mathematical Methods and 46 in Environmental Science.
“Throughout the year my Dad has been joking with me hoping to get me featured in the Neos Kosmos again. It would make my Dad and my family proud.”
Constance Bahtsevanoglou received an ATAR of 97.85. She received a perfect study score of 50 in English and 43 Biology, 41 Global Politics, 41 Chemistry, 37 Greek.
She is Dux Secondus at her school, Santa Maria College.
