VASSY, the Australian-born, U.S.-based singer and songwriter, has notably impacted Billboard’s end-of-year charts. Her track “Krazy” has cracked the top 20 on the U.S. trade publication’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay Songs tally, securing the No. 17 spot. Released in late 2023, “Krazy” outperformed tracks by major artists such as the Chainsmokers, Martin Garrix, and Charli XCX.
Taking to social media, VASSY expressed her pride, saying, “Considering it’s such a solid list with major heavy-hitter artists… Hard work & talent can prevail despite all the difficulties in this biz.” She also thanked the dance radio stations and program directors who have supported her music, adding, “I’m so grateful for all the belief and support.”
VASSY’s success story is one of determination. Born Vassy Karagiorgos and raised in a Greek household in Darwin, she moved to the U.S. in the early 2010s to pursue her music career. Her move paid off when she became the first Australian artist to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart with her solo hit “We Are Young.” VASSY has since topped the chart six times, with tracks like “Bad” (with David Guetta and Showtek), which has surpassed 2 billion streams on YouTube.
In 2023, she made history again, becoming the first female recipient of Icon status at the EDMAs, further cementing her place in the music industry.
Continuing her momentum into 2024, VASSY signed with Universal Music Publishing and released several singles, including the acoustic version of “Sum Like It Hot” (via Perfect Havoc) and the energetic “Midnight” (Spinnin’ Records). She also launched her radio show, VOX Radio, on Nova Radio in September.
She promises more new music for 2025, stating, “I look forward to working on new songs for you guys.”
Despite the U.S. charts being dominated by North American artists, VASSY’s achievements stand out. The top 10 artists on Billboard’s year-end charts are mostly from the U.S., with Canadian rapper Drake being the only exception, securing the No. 4 spot. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has topped the Hot 100 Songs and Billboard 200 charts.
