UPROOT: Greek Refugee Songs from Asia Minor – Event Information | ArtsHub UK

The Kombos Collective presents the critically acclaimed Uproot, a powerful programme of Greek songs from Asia Minor as seen through the lens of the diaspora, described as “seismic and beautiful” (Liverpool Sound and Vision). In collaboration with rebetiko artist Katerina Clambaneva, the ensemble performs modern chamber arrangements of beloved songs from the region, celebrating its vibrant musical heritage in a whole new way and showcasing the refugee experience through songs.

Uproot weaves histories and personal stories throughout, generating a universal dialogue about the impact of forced migration and building a bridge to the experience of modern-day refugees.

Artists: Katerina Clambaneva (vocals), Ellie Falaris Ganelin (flute), Pavlos Carvalho (cello), Andrew Quartermain (piano)
