Good to see Venetian influence in Greece
Always hear the warning about not eating fresh greens when traveling abroad-I take it that is not the case here? Always hate seeing lovely salads and being afraid to try them. Any feedback?
Unfortunately pick the wrong restaurant and you will not experience the Cretan food. Some cooked in seed oils . Best to do research before you go.
Sorry bro but it seems like you only went to the tourist traps…. If anyone ever visits Crete. Rent a car and stip at any small village and you'll eat real cretan good. Coming from a Cretan
I love this video WOLTER!!
Very helpful for my week in Crete next June 🤞 ciao from Italy
Thanks
Well, not to rain on your parade, since you are doing your best to highlight the food, but Stifado actually needs hare or rabbit meat. Anything else is like sweetener versus cane sugar! 😊
Dakos has feta on top, not cream chesse. Half of his information is just 🤨
Mark I live in Chania and agree. Sorry I never met you. Live your travel tips
Some corrections. There are two versions of Gamopilafo. The one made with lamb and the other one with lamb, rooster and beef. Also, service in Greece is super fast. When you have lived in Germany as I do and visited Italy, then Greeks are working in light speed. Also, yemista you should get actually with tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, wine and zucchini leaves, zucchini… That's the real deal. And forget about Zuchinni balls in Crete everything is about stuffed wine zucchini leaves. You get them everywhere and all year around. And last but not least, horta (χόρτα). The green you get in Greece. They are boiled and at the table they get fresh olive oil and lemon juice. There are different types of greens and you'll find some all year around.
You forgot bougatsa for breakfast at Iordanis in Chania , I recommend to you to go to Iordanis, he is only a block away from the Bazaari.
Iordanis is at Apokoronou 24 .
Have the bougatsa with Cream is the best breakfast with a Freddo
Crete is awesome. 🧿💙🇬🇷 We went in 2021 to visit family on the mainland, and then on to Crete. We ended up cutting our trip to The Netherlands (which was next) short because we were just enjoying our time in the island so much.
Crete wasn’t on my short list of places to visit but after watching this video I’m adding it! 😋
When we I hear about Greece and lamb, I think of the lines from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” when the guy says, “Oh, I don’t eat meat, I’m vegetarian” and the mother pauses for a second and then emphatically says, “I will make lamb!” 😅
I'm visiting Crete this fall, can't wait! First visit to a Greek island.
I love dakos. I've never been in Crete, but we discovered it in southern Peloponese, which it's quite nearby. We do it at home at least once a month, or the most similar thing possible, using feta, mashed tomato, oregano and a lot of olive oil
Wonderful 👌🙌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Reminds me of my time on Rhodes
One of the first things I tried was the beef stifado. So tender.
The dried fruit, yoghurt and honey for breakfast was some of the best yoghurt I had.
If you find a bakery- seek out a sweet cream/custard pie, made of filo pastry.omg ! I have never had anything so good, not even to this day- well I have once but that was in a local port, near Costa teguise,Lanzarote which did baffle me but I was delighted nevertheless….
Oh.and feta cheese, salad and their in house pita bread- Waw !
It’s nice to share back my experiences, and good memories
Dakos is my fave
❤ ❤ ❤
Loved Crete when I went in May 2023 ❤
