On August 30, Magnesia plans to honor two of the most important fruits of its land, the pear and the grape, through two separate festivals that combine tradition, local production and authentic Greek hospitality.

Specifically, in Velestino, the Social Cooperative Enterprise “Rigas Fereos” is organizing the Pear and Local Products Festival for the fifth year. In a rural area where cultivation remains part of everyday life and local identity, the festival aims to highlight the quality production and creativity of local businesses. From product exhibitions to traditional dances and a feast with live music, Velestino invites locals and visitors to meet, taste and dance.

The aim of the event is to strengthen local entrepreneurship, connect taste with cultural identity and enhance the quality of life in the area.

On the same day, a few kilometers away, in Nea Anchialos, the Philoprowodos Association of the area honors the grape through the event “Grape Festival – Tziafeti”, as part of the Cultural Summer 2025. Here, viticulture is not just a crop, but a historical legacy.

The first residents of Nea Anchialos brought with them from Eastern Rumelia, after the disaster of 1906, the knowledge and love for the vine, forming a tradition that continues uninterrupted to this day. The event includes informative activities on viticulture, preparation of local dishes and wines, as well as a musical program with local artists. And all this, with free admission and an open embrace for young and old.

Two different celebrations with a common goal: to bring the visitor closer to the authenticity, taste, history and joy of the Greek countryside. For those seeking experiences with taste and meaning, the 30th of August in Magnesia is a crossroads of cultural and gastronomic delight that should not be missed.
