For jazz in Kardamyli
There’s still time to enjoy an autumn getaway in the stunning Kardamyli, on the occasion of the Kardamili International Jazz Festival (running until October 19), which transforms Mani into an open-air music stage. Concerts will be held in various locations across the region, from Kardamyli and Stoupa to Agios Nikolaos, featuring top ensembles such as Blue Shades, Nina Gromstad Quartet, Toini & the Tomcats, The Batchelors of Jazz with Dave Batchelor, Marlen Tjøsvoll & James Girling, EDGE, ElectroSocks, and Feast For Fools. For eight days, jazz meets the Mediterranean vibe, and Mani becomes the ideal setting for music, creativity, and authentic hospitality.
“The Third Wedding Wreath” on stage at the Art Theatre
The iconic novel by Kostas Tachtsis comes to life on stage in a bold theatrical production by Stathis Livathinos, adapted by Stratis Paschalis. Fifteen talented actors portray the many faces of the story, exploring the lives of Nina and Ekavi through the lens of daily life, memory, and the history of 20th-century Greece. From the interwar years and the Occupation to the Civil War and the December events, the play highlights the timeless Greek landscape and the personal battles of its protagonists. A moving, intense, and timely interpretation that speaks of yesterday and today, inviting the audience to recognize their own reflection in the characters of Tachtsis.
Premiere: Wednesday, October 22 at the Art Theatre Karolos Koun (14 Frynichou Street, Plaka).
“Pop Art at Electra Art Space”
The art initiative by Electra Metropolis (15 Mitropoleos St., Syntagma), embracing art through Electra Art Space (the second venue of Skoufa Gallery), runs until October 18. The exhibition features European pop art creators: Jisbar, Barnabe, Leo Caillard, Henri Iglesis, Patrick Rubinstein, Maxim Wakultschik, and Amalia Sotiropoulou. Works range from street-art aesthetics and spray/collage techniques to optical illusions and “images” made of rods, pop reinterpretations of classical themes, and sculptural busts where Roman antiquity meets sci-fi/hipster references, as well as playful metallic forms resembling “inflatable” objects.
Opening hours: Tue/Thu/Fri 10:00–19:00 | Wed 10:00–16:00 | Sat 10:30–16:30.
