Thessaloniki, known for its vibrant cultural scene, hosts two important festivals that attract a large number of visitors from all over the world, combining art, music and youth culture in the most creative way.
The Street Mode Festival, scheduled to take place from September 12 to 14 at the former Municipal Slaughterhouse building, is one of the largest festivals in Greece focused on music and urban culture. Since 2009, Street Mode has managed to become a point of reference for the city’s youth and for visitors from all over the country and abroad. The festival includes a dynamic program with many music stages and activities that focus on street art, street dance, parkour, BMX and skateboarding. On the other hand, the 11th Thessaloniki Animation Festival (TAF), scheduled to take place from October 16 to 19 at Warehouse D at the Port of Thessaloniki, is one of the most important institutions of its kind in the country. The festival, organized in collaboration with the Film Office of the city’s Department of Tourism and Culture, focuses on contemporary animation and its multidimensional aspects, from education and art to entertainment. Since its first event in 2015, TAF has presented works by artists from all over the world, strengthening Thessaloniki as an international hub of the animation community. The festival’s program is not limited to screenings, but extends to seminars, workshops and masterclasses by renowned artists in the field, offering participants a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the art of animation.
These two festivals are not just entertainment events, but also important cultural events that enhance the image of Thessaloniki as a city that combines tradition with modern artistic and youth culture.
