A unique exhibition that connects music with the visual arts is being hosted this August in Chania. The Grand Arsenal – Center for Mediterranean Architecture opens its doors to the exhibition “Artistic Squares in Musical Circles”, which presents dozens of emblematic vinyl covers, from Greek and international discography.
Among them stand out honorary tributes to records by Manos Hadjidakis and Mikis Theodorakis, as well as well-known covers that have traveled through time and left their mark. Visitors have the opportunity to see firsthand how musical inspiration was translated into visual narratives through photographs, paintings, graphic design and original visual works.
The exhibition offers a journey through memory and the senses: for those who lived through the vinyl era, the covers evoke musical experiences of another era; for the younger generation, who grew up with Spotify and YouTube, it is an invitation to get acquainted with the charm of analog sound and the visual creation that accompanied the records.
The exhibition, organized by the Chania Film Festival, will last until August 21, 2025, giving visitors the opportunity to discover not only the visual gems of discography, but also the aesthetic trends that characterized different decades in music and art.
