Forest Hills Stadium wrapped up an incredible run of concerts this year with unforgettable performances from Tiësto and Gryffin on October 25 and 26.
Tiësto delivered a legendary 4-hour-long set on Friday evening in Queens. The renowned Dutch music producer once again proved why connoisseurs of electronica music consider him one of the all-time great DJs during the past three decades. Longtime fans and first-time partygoers sold out Forest Hills Stadium in anticipation of a dance party that would live on in their minds rent-free long after Tiësto stopped spinning the infamous anthems that made him the icon of EDM that he is today. From playing his recent bangers to old school classics including “Lethal Industry” and “The Industry Part 4” through a beautiful sunset to enduring darkness, Tiësto created a welcoming, warm atmosphere that few others can achieve no matter the hour of the night. The prismatic show saw Tiësto dive into the genres of dance, deep house, pop, a hint of dubstep, and a completely captivating trance set that sent attendees home with spellbound smiles across their faces.
Gryffin kept the infectious energy going when it was his turn to play FHS on Saturday. The 37-year-old DJ and music producer’s stage presence was a sight to behold. Gryffin’s robust command of the crowd with his amped-up vitality should be a case study for any musician who dreams of reaching the big time one day. Gryffin came to the area in promotion for his latest album, ‘Pulse.’ His third album dropped on August 2, and showcases a ‘who’s who’ in the music biz. It’s no surprise why names including Armin van Buuren, Rita Ora, Elderbrook, and PollyAnna were eager to work with the current top rockstar of house music. Highlights from Gryffin’s Forest Hills set included getting the crowd to jump up and down when he played “Magic” featuring babyidontlikeyou and playing the piano and guitar during different portions of his headlining performance.
