No other city evokes the rich and complex history of Greek cuisine better than Thessaloniki, Greece’s de facto culinary capital. Diane learns the secrets of bougatsa, an airy, creamy phyllo pastry, and boards a mussel boat just off the coast. In her kitchen she cooks up Feta-Stuffed Sweet Red Peppers and Mussel Pilaf.
My Greek Table is a journey through the mountains, islands, villages and cities of Greece in search of the country’s most delicious, healthy recipes and raw ingredients. Diane Kochilas, the host of My Greek Table, is a native New Yorker who adopted Greece as her home more than two decades ago. With My Greek Table Diane will shed light on one of the world’s oldest and healthiest cuisines.

Thank you Diane. Cooking is the highest form of art. Love your videos. Pavlos
Those pastries! Oh my! I think I need to master the art of making the pastry because the shop bought filo in the UK isn't a patch on that pastry perfection, I'm 60 so perhaps I can master it before I am 100, lol!
Sounds like such an interesting place! Everything looks very good, amazing to see how the pastry chef throws & stretches the phyllo dough by hand!!
DISGUSTING……..Mussels…..🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Thessaloniki did not need an urban cooking it was imperial city 22 centuries straight, it was no2 only to Constantinople in Byzantine Empire and no2 only to Constantinople (Konstantiniyee called by the Ottomans) in Ottoman Empire. No2 most important urban centre in both empires.
Now about the wines would be great if shows Greek Macedonia wines, since most good Greek mainland wines are either from Macedonia or Peloponnese , but you are in Thessaloniki.
Midopilafo not mussel pilaf, why do you turn into English. Do you call tiramisu "take me up?"
My mother, aunt and grandmother made phyllo by hand. They taught me but I had to stop due to gluten sensitivity! It's a crying shame.
Love watching – Went to Thessaloniki every summer to see my late parents who moved back after retiring. Diane, have you considered using Greek music in the background?
Greeks learned to cook from Turks after they learned it from somebody else. This show is the proof.
Since when did Greek eat rice? With pine nuts, parsley and saffron? I bet they learned it from Arabs during the Osmani empire or a Persian cook who taught them. I know how to cook rice. I can tell hers is still raw. Ha.
which spices are being used before adding oil and chill powder
