Theatre of the No Celebrates May Day with Encardia

ATHENS – Theatre of the No, Athens’ first English-speaking theatre, celebrates May Day with Encardia, in a vibrant concert that welcomes the arrival of spring and pays tribute to the Mediterranean, its traditions, sounds, and timeless stories, on Thursday, May 1, 9 PM.

Encardia brings the stage to life with stories of love, exile, longing, and joy, told through powerful rhythms, vivid colors, and songs of longing and exile to the cathartic, high-energy dance forms of the tarantella.

Rooted in the Greek-speaking regions of Southern Italy and shaped by years of passionate exploration, they blend traditional songs, original compositions, and contemporary arrangements into an electrifying, emotionally rich experience. Dance and movement are at the heart of their storytelling, with every step and beat echoing centuries of Mediterranean history.

Twenty years after their first appearance, with thousands of concerts in Greece and abroad, seven albums, two music-theatre productions, and an award-winning documentary, Encardia enters a new creative chapter. They invite us to relive the songs we’ve loved and discover new music through the lens of an ever-evolving artistic collective  resilient, collaborative, and always pioneering.

The performers are: Natalia Kotsani on vocals, percussion; Vangelis Papageorgiou on accordion, harmonica, vocals; Michalis Kontaxakis on guitar, vocals; Kostas Konstantatos on percussion, mandolin, vocals; Giorgos Danis on double bass, vocals; and dancers Konstantina Kalkani and Anastasia Drouga.

Tickets are 12€, available online: https://shorturl.at/RgSSK.

Theatre of the No is located at Konstantinou Palaiologou 3 in Athens across from the Athens City Hall.
