The Greek DJ who conquers the global electronic scene

The electronic music scene in Greece is going through a booming period, with young artists claiming their place in global festivals and major venues. Among them, Leena Punks, aka Lina Psila, stands out, who, with passion, hard work and dedication, is turning her music into a global phenomenon.

From Vrilissia to London Lights

Born and raised in Vrilissia, Leena started her professional career in journalism, working in newspapers and radio stations of DOL. However, her love for music has always been present. In 2012, through a seminar, she began to discover electronic music production, something that would change her life.

The economic crisis in Greece prompted her to seek new opportunities in London. There she worked for leading media such as the Sun, Daily Mail and Vogue, gaining valuable experience. At the same time, she started playing music in West End clubs and invested time in studying composition and electronic music production.

“The hardest part was the second year in London. I had left a good job in Athens to start from scratch, and things were tough. But when I decided not to look back, things started to improve,” she confesses.

The Great Bend: From Pandemic to Success

The pandemic was a turning point in Leena’s career. With more time on her hands, she focused on producing music, and her first demos began to stand out. In 2021, winning a remix contest for Stress Records (the label that brought forth artists like Sasha) brought her the recognition she was looking for.

This was followed by her collaboration with AnjunaBeats, one of the most respected labels in the electronic scene. Her song “On The Floor” hit #1 on BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Records of the Week, while her remix of Faithless’ “Dawn of the Dead” was included in their world tour. “I could never have imagined my music would reach this far,” she admits.

At the World’s Great Venues and Festivals

Leena Punks has now established herself as one of the most promising up-and-coming artists. She has played legendary venues such as Printworks, Fabric, Ministry of Sound, and Halcyon in San Francisco, as well as colossal festivals such as Tomorrowland and Creamfields. Her performances have taken her across Europe, America, and Asia, making her one of the most sought-after DJs of her generation.

This journey has not been without sacrifice. “Producing music requires unimaginable work, beyond creativity. The competition is immense, but every day I feel grateful to be doing what I love,” she says.

The Future Is Now
2024 is expected to be a defining year for her career. Her first EP is set to be released on AnjunaBeats, with collaborations from top artists such as Amy Wiles, Darren Tate and Genix. In addition, she is also working on new releases with Enhanced, Armada and Stress Records, while planning tours to new cities and countries.

“Music is what defines me. It’s how I express myself and communicate with the world. What I want is to continue to create and travel, bringing my art to new people,” he states with determination.

Inspiration for the New Generation

Leena Punks’ story is an example of courage, perseverance and passion. From journalism in Vrilissia to the global electronic music scene, her journey proves that dreams can become reality with hard work and dedication. And as she says: “It doesn’t matter where you start. What matters is finding what you love and going after it with all your might.”
