The first message and Guilfoyle’s syrtaki in Greece – See which politicians and businessmen she invited to Argyros

The new U.S. ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, made a double public appearance over the weekend. She arrived in the Greek capital at midday last Saturday on a private flight, in order to officially assume her duties.

For the premiere of her new role — head of the U.S. Embassy in Greece — Mrs. Guilfoyle attended the annual Marine Corps Ball, which this year coincided with her arrival in Athens, giving her the opportunity to spend a few hours with members of the U.S. Armed Forces, their Greek counterparts, as well as the U.S. diplomatic mission. Present at the event were the Ministers of National Defense and Shipping, Nikos Dendias and Vasilis Kikilias respectively, as well as Deputy Foreign Minister Charis Theocharis.

Then, yesterday, Mrs. Guilfoyle took part in a private music event with singer Konstantinos Argyros, in the presence of representatives of the country’s economic, business, and social life.

At one point, the new U.S. ambassador to Athens even joined in dancing syrtaki together with other attendees.

Among the dinner companions of last night’s event were government members, such as the Ministers of Labor, Niki Kerameos, Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, and Shipping, Vasilis Kikilias, as well as former Finance Minister and MP, Christos Staikouras.

Accompanied by her son, Ronan, the new U.S. ambassador to Athens welcomed those present with a short speech, stating characteristically that she herself is looking forward to assuming her duties and she promised that everything she plans to do will leave them satisfied. “I will not disappoint the United States and Greece,” Kimberly Guilfoyle said characteristically, who appears to have been preparing for some time for her debut in the Greek capital.

Meanwhile, Ms. Guilfoyle is expected tomorrow, Tuesday, to be at the Presidential Mansion for the credential ceremony before the President of the Hellenic Republic, Kostas Tasoulas. With this in mind: “I am grateful to the Greek government for the warm welcome and I look forward to presenting my credentials to President Tasoulas in the very near future,” emphasized the new U.S. Ambassador from the very first moments of her arrival in Greece. Immediately after the ceremony at the Presidential Mansion, Mrs. Guilfoyle will meet, according to information, with the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as the Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis.

After her first impression of Athens, however, Mrs. Guilfoyle will today go to her natural base, that is, the U.S. Embassy in Athens, at Mavili Square, in order to be fully briefed on her new duties, as the first week of her stay in the Greek capital includes a series of actions of high political interest. Within this context, Mrs. Guilfoyle is expected on Wednesday to host a reception in honor of the two Trump administration Ministers, the Energy Secretary Chris Wright and the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who are expected in Athens for the needs of the 6th Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC), which is jointly organized by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy, and the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, on November 6–7, at Zappeion.

More than 20 European Energy Ministers will also be present at the same event, marking Kimberly Guilfoyle’s first official participation in an international forum after assuming her duties, at a time when the energy agenda is high on the Trump administration’s priorities for the Eastern Mediterranean.
