From the late ‘60s to the start of the ‘70s, The Doors emerged as the face of a bold new guard in rock, sharing a string of unprecedented albums that forever altered popular music. Featuring the magnetic Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore, the Los Angeles quartet pooled their talents and marked their unique perspective with a heady brew of rock, blues, and psychedelia. After their final album, L.A. Woman, and Morrison’s sudden passing in 1971, their ride came to an end, but not before solidifying their status as one of the greatest bands of their era and leaving an enduring influence on generations of artists to come.

In honor of the 60th anniversary of The Doors’ formation, Krieger has announced “A 60th Anniversary Doors Celebration,” set to stage at Los Angeles’ iconic Greek Theater on Oct. 30. The show will center a retrospective on the immortal hits of the band’s 1970 breakthrough Morrison Hotel, alongside fan favorite essentials from throughout their venerable catalog. Krieger and his band will welcome a rotation collective of guest vocalists throughout their performance, and the evening will begin with an opening set from the experimental electronic project Tripform featuring Pablo Manzarek, son of The Doors’ late keyboardist.

“Sixty years or so ago when The Doors were happening, I had no idea that in the next century, we would still be talking about and playing The Doors records,” Krieger shared in a statement. “I feel so blessed that just about every day someone stops me and recognizes me and wants to talk about The Doors and to thank me for making the music that they love still today. The people that recognize me seem to be getting nicer all the time… I like to say that it’s a good problem to have.”
