Greece, N.Y. — A man faces charges following a standoff that began early Tuesday and stretched into the afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a domestic incident involving a gun on Brayton Road in Greece shortly after 4:30 a.m.
Police said Chris Singleton, 18, of Gates, on probation for a weapon charge, had entered the home without permission, got into an argument with someone who lived there and refused to leave.
Singleton displayed what appeared to be a handgun and failed to comply with repeated commands from officers to get out of the home, according to police, prompting the SWAT team to enter.
Police said Singleton was found hiding inside in a cardboard box in the basement, which was “cluttered with significant debris,” though no gun was found.
Singleton was charged with criminal trespass and released on an appearance ticket.
