SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Multiple casts, lots of young talent and a special sensory-friendly performance are some of the unique features of the Serendipity Theater Company’s production of “Hadestown – Teen Edition’’ at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center April 2-4.
The folk opera based on Greek mythology has been a hit on Broadway for a decade, earning Tony and Grammy awards.
The double-casted show will have multiple performers playing the same role on different nights.
The Songbird cast will perform Thursday and Saturday’s evening show. The Rattlesnake cast will perform Friday and Saturday’s sensory-friendly show Saturday afternoon.
The Saturday matinee will welcome individuals with sensory needs, including people on the autism spectrum, as well as, first-time theatergoers. Some adjustments for this performance include allowing patron movement during the performance with usher assistance. House lights will be dimmed rather than turned off and there will be no complete blackouts. Intense lighting and sound effects will be reduced or omitted.
