The Estia Greek Street Festival returns to Hobart, Australia, this weekend, offering a vibrant celebration of Greek culture for Tasmania’s Greek diaspora.
Held at 67 Federal Street in North Hobart, the festival has been a cultural staple since 1994, as reported by Greek-Australian newspaper Neos Kosmos. As part of the broader Estia 2025 program, the event showcases the traditions of Greek migrants and their contributions to Tasmania’s multicultural landscape.
The festival features live Greek music, traditional folk dancing and a variety of Greek dishes, including souvlaki, gyros, and loukoumades.
“The Estia Greek Festival is a celebration of Greek heritage and the strong sense of community that has flourished here in Tasmania,” said Manoli Kalimnios, President of the Greek Community of Tasmania. Organizers and volunteers underscored the festival’s role in connecting generations of Greek migrants and highlighting their lasting impact on the island’s cultural fabric.
This year’s festival is part of the Estia 2025 program, which includes sports, lectures, film screenings, and more, further celebrating Greek culture within Tasmania’s diverse community.
