Tallahassee’s Greek Festival Packs Them in Again – for 43d Year

Once again, the Tallahassee Greek Food Festival drew thousands of people wanting to taste Greek food and celebrate the culture, the event running for 43 years, including music and dancing at the Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church.

A small army of cooks and servers kept the baklava, gyros and delectable Greek pastries flowing, delighting so many folks, including former Florida Lt. Governor and incoming head of Florida TaxWatch, Jeff Kottkamp, said WSFU.

“It’s heartwarming to see SO MANY people having a wonderful time with their families and friends. It’s something that we in our family look forward to every year!”

The church’s Presiding Priest, Father Robert O’Laughlin, said the festival is a great chance to acquaint the larger community with a venerable faith tradition.

“Some of the things within the culture are intertwined with the church. So we’re able to share our faith and where we fit into the Christian world, the ancient Christian church that we are. So it’s a beautiful opportunity to share that.”
