St. Nectarios Greek Fest returns with food, music, games


Described as a Greek party in the Northwest suburbs, St. Nectarios’ annual Greek Fest returns Friday, June 20 through Sunday, June 22 at the church, 133 S. Roselle Road in Palatine.

Festival hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Drive-through hours for food are 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Menu offerings include souvlaki (pork shish-kebab), Athenian chicken, a gyros plate, pastitsio and Greek salad. Desserts include loukoumades, diples, baklava, kourambiedes, melomakarona, and assorted pastries.

The Taverna will serve fried calamari, saganaki, loukaniko, mini souvlakia, Greek fries, tyropita, spanakopita, as well as a combo plate. The calamari and Greek fries are not available at the drive-through.

Live entertainment on Friday will include the Oh Yes Band from 7-9 p.m. and DJ Con from 4 to 11 p.m.; on Saturday, the Panopoulous Orchestra will play from 5 to 11 p.m. and DJ Con will spin tunes from 3 to 11 p.m. The two will return on Sunday with Panopoulous from 5 to 10 p.m. and DJ Con from noon to 10 p.m.

There will be a cash raffle with a daily drawing.

A portion of the festival proceeds will be donated to the Palatine Food Pantry, the Orthodox Christian Center and International Christian Charities.
