Spectacular welcome of the New Year at the Christmas Village of the Region of Attica

With a glittering musical extravaganza, with Christos Mastoras and the “Melisses” on stage, the New Year was welcomed at the Christmas Village of the Region of Attica in Pedion to Areos.

More than 15,000 citizens from every corner of the basin flooded the largest metropolitan park of Athens, to enjoy a unique festive concert with the most beloved band of the Greek music scene, which enchanted the audience with its rhythm and incredible energy.

A few minutes before the end of 2024, the music stopped and from the giant screen of the main stage there was a live connection with Syntagma for the traditional countdown for the reception of the new year by the Municipality of Athens, with the Governor of Attica Nikos Hardalias wishing a happy new year, full of health and a smile for every day of the new year.

The sky lit up at the “official first” of 2025

The first moments of 2025 were bright and joyful at the Christmas Village of the Region of Attica, as a unique drone show lit up the Attica sky above the Areos Field, offering a wonderful spectacle to welcome the New Year, with dozens of small drones forming the most recognizable traditional symbols of the New Year on the night canvas.

All eyes turned upwards, mobile phones pointed to the sky and began to record the “protagonists” of the celebration: The Christmas tree, the reindeer, the snowman, the decorated house, but also 2024, which gradually began to fade away to hand over to 2025 and the beloved – of young and old – Santa Claus, before he started his journey to distribute gifts and joy to every home. The show ended with the projection of the logo of the Region of Attica, which has the initiative to run the Village.

At the same time, those who were in the area had the opportunity to enjoy an impressive light show, which illuminated the park in every corner.

The festive evening was presented by Themis Georgantas, while Zaf and ONEMANSHOW also appeared on stage.

Omenaf was on stage on the occasion of the concert, while the band was joined by ONEMHAB on the stage of the show.

It is worth noting that the festive concert also had a charitable character, as Christos Mastoras and “Melisses” participated pro bono, offering their fee to structures of the Region for the needs of vulnerable groups.

The big outdoor party continued with undiminished fun until the first hours of the new year, with music from MAD RADIO 106.2, which kept the festive mood high.
