NEW YORK – The Archdiocesan Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir and Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Costas Tsourakis presented ‘The Sounds of Lent’ on March 14 at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City. Virtual viewing is available now through Pascha, April 12.
This moving evening of sacred music is offered in loving memory of Maestro Dino Anagnost, beloved Music Director of the Cathedral for nearly four decades, on the 15th anniversary of his falling asleep in the Lord.
This year’s program features selected sacred works by Anagnost, including excerpts from the Lamentations of Holy Friday, alongside masterworks by composers he championed, with selections from Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater and Verdi’s Requiem. The concert will also include music by Theodore Bogdanos and Frank Desby, and a premiere selection by Cathedral Organist and former Dino Anagnost Artist-in-Residence, Dawn Helene.
Performed by the combined forces of the Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir, and Cathedral Orchestra, The Sounds of Lent offers a powerful evening of prayer, remembrance, and musical reflection in the sacred setting of the Archdiocesan Cathedral.
With the talented Costas Tsourakis, Director of Music; Hilary Baboukis, Associate Director of Music; Dawn Helene, Accompanist/Organist; Alyson Spina, Youth Choir Director; Katerina Veneris, Associate Youth Choir Director; the Archdiocesan Cathedral Choir, Youth Choir and Orchestra, and featured soloists impressed the audience during the live performance.
