Songs for Afroditi at the Greek Cultural Center in Astoria May 10

ASTORIA – The Greek Cultural Center, 26-80 30th Street in Astoria, presents ‘Songs for Afroditi’, a concert of joy and admiration for the true Queens of Astoria, on Saturday, May 10, 3 PM, as EJ Garlands honors Afroditi with sweet, jazzy and easy-listening renditions of songs meant to honor all mothers, mother figures, grandmas, and everyone else.

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a relaxing time ahead of Mother’s Day.

EJ is graciously donating all proceeds to the Greek Cultural Center in honor of his “Greek Grandma.” All are welcome whether donating or not.

EJ Garlands, an award-winning singer, has always wanted to perform for his landlady, Afroditi, a longtime resident of Astoria. She and her daughters have requested, time and again, that EJ sing for his “Greek Grandma,” but, given her age and mobility, she’s never been able to make the trip into Manhattan. Lucky for us, though, the Greek Cultural Center is just a few blocks from her home of 50 years, and EJ will finally be able to serenade her and all of Astoria.

EJ Garlands is a singer-songwriter and producer based in New York City, blending pop-soul-jazz with a unique flair influenced by legends ranging from Ella Fitzgerald to Judy Garland to Jazmine Sullivan. His original music explores themes of love, strength, confidence, and the power of overcoming obstacles.
