Son of late Neos Kosmos writer, Manos Milios, wins kickboxing title

Manos Milios Junior is the latest winner of the IKA Kickboxing title at the Australian Championships.

Milios performed in front of a crowd of thousands, with mother Anastasia Milios stating emotional after watching the match.

“He made us so proud,” she told Neos Kosmos.

Milios Jnr is named after his father, Manos Milios Snr, a prominent figure in Greek community journalism.

Many will remember Milios Snr from his columns in sports and lifestyle events for Neos Kosmos, where he spent the majority of his journalistic career for over three decades.

He loved writing about the city’s bustling night life having met and interviewed all the top Greek celebrities and artists – mainly singers – visiting Australia.

He started his journey at Athlitiki Iho and Nea Patrida before joining the Neos Kosmos team where he also met his wife Anastasia, as a colleague.

He was also celebrated as a soccer coach, having played soccer at the Athinaikos Club before migrating to Melbourne.

The late colleague appears to have passed on the passion for sports to his son, fostering in him a strong sense of Greek identity.

Milios Jnr celebrated his victory waving the Greek flag in the ring and outside.
