Sacramento Greek Festival

Founded in 1963, the treasured community event returns with live entertainment, dancing and a delicious menu of authentic Greek cuisine and wine.

WHAT: 

Now in its 62nd year, the Sacramento Greek Festival kicks off the first weekend of October with authentic Greek cuisine, imported wine, vibrant Greek Dance performances, cooking demos and live music.  Four generations of volunteers – nearly 400 people – will come together to put on the Greek Fest, which is attend by thousands of community members each year. Greek Dancers will perform all weekend and guests can join in the fun by participating in free dance lessons. Festival attendees can tap their feet to traditional live music by Mythos and a DJ Chris spinning the latest hits from the Greek Islands.

Greek Fest offers indoor and outdoor dining experiences on the spacious grounds with tents for shade and plenty of seating. Guests will enjoy our most popular food booths: 

 

  • Gyro – Grilled pork or chicken slices marinated in Greek spices, wrapped in pita bread and topped with fries, onions, tomatoes, and tzatziki (the famous cucumber, garlic and yogurt sauce). 
  • Meze (appetizers) – small bites you can’t get enough of like “saganaki” (flaming fried cheese), souvlaki, spanakopita, calamari.  
  • Zaharoplastion (pastry shop) – honey and butter-drenched baklava, kourambiethes, traditional Greek cookies and much more.  
  • Loukoumades- the “Greek mini doughnut” fried fresh on the spot, drizzled in honey, cinnamon and nuts.   
  • Pandepoleon (marketplace) – featuring authentic specialty foods including olive oil, oregano and imported chocolates.
  • Agora (shops) – Greek inspired art, clothing, unique jewelry and much more.
  • Taverna (bar) – Greek wines and liquor, imported specialty sodas and beer plus the popular Greek Lemon Blast signature cocktail.

An expansive a la carte menu will return along with crowd favorites like Moussaka and Pastitsio. Proceeds support parish outreach, youth programs and local charities. Admission for guests 13 and older is $5, kids under 13 are free. “Friday Funday” $3 admission between 11am and 3pm on Friday. Free admission for guests who ride their bikes.
