Pita Pita opened on the Market Place on April 17, offering gyros in a pita, baguette or box, with pork, chicken, halloumi or a veggie option. Also on the menu are chips, available with bacon and cheese, and a classic Greek salad with feta, olives, tomatoes, onions, peppers, oregano and Greek extra virgin olive oil.
Isabella: Chicken pitta wrap
You can’t beat Greek food, having been to Greece several times (where I’ve never had a bad meal), I am always searching for something that matches that authentic flavour that never seems to be quite mastered on this side of Europe.
I chose a chicken pitta wrap, and the first thing I said to Tom after my first bite was: “this tastes like it does in Greece!”
Niche, I know, but it really did, and it’s no surprise as the owners themselves are from Athens, and everything is homemade and fresh.
It makes a healthier option than your average takeaway lunch – the chicken was full of flavour and generously filled the pitta alongside tzatziki, tomatoes, onions, chips and oregano. They also had a selection of dips and sauces you could add, but I was quite happy with it as it came.
I really enjoyed this – it was £7.50 which I felt was quite expensive for a pita but by the time I had finished, I realised quite how much food you get for your money and I don’t think I could have eaten a thing more.
Even the chips tasted Greek – which is an odd thing to say – but if you’ve been to Greece you’ll know what I mean.
I would return here without a doubt, I’m delighted something so authentic has opened its doors so locally.

Tom: Halloumi pitta wrap
I’m a big fan of Greek food.
My most common Deliveroo order is Baroushka’s halloumi souvlaki (bought under another name, Greek2Go), usually with a portion of their oregano fries, so I was pleased to see this new Greek spot appear in the city centre earlier this month.
Speaking to one of the owners in the run-up to their launch made it sounds like an appealing lunch spot, especially given its initial opening hours, so I was looking forward to giving it a try.
True to form, I went for halloumi in a pitta wrap, which is served with Pita-Pita’s homemade tzatziki, tomatoes, onions and fries, seasoned with oregano and salt.
The end product is delicious, but be warned; the wraps are rather messy to eat! The pitta was generously filled – and almost overflowing with – cheese, salad and fries, so it’s smart to have a napkin or two on hand to save yourself from a spillage.
Isabella and I both went for a Coke Zero, which was served nice and chilled.
It’s great to have a new option for lunches in Salisbury, especially one with options that are on the healthier side (including their Greek salad) and with outside seating in the lovely market place setting, just in time for summer.
