Residents celebrate Human Rights Day with music and Mediterranean delicacies


The Centurion community came together to celebrate Human Rights Day at the ABBA & Greek Festival with culture, music, and cuisine at Irene Village Mall on Friday.

The festival featured an exciting lineup of live Greek music and folk dancing, which had attendees of all ages clapping along and dancing in the aisles.

The festival was also a celebration of Mediterranean cuisine, with a variety of dishes on offer, from traditional Greek delicacies to ABBA-themed treats.

Throughout the day, attendees were treated to a playlist of ABBA’s greatest hits, which added to the festive atmosphere and had everyone singing along.

The event was a wonderful celebration of community and culture and a fitting way to mark Human Rights Day.

Junita Artman, who enjoyed the festival, said she loved every minute of it.

“The music is amazing, and the sunshine is the perfect accompaniment.”

She said she couldn’t wait to see what the rest of the day would bring.

Another attendee, Alex Rose Higgins, said the event was absolutely about soaking up the vibe.

She said the Greek music and dancing were infectious, and the ABBA playlist “is taking me back to my childhood”.
