Versatile Greek singer Rena Morfi, known for her electrifying stage presence, is set to headline festivals organized by the Greek communities of Melbourne and New South Wales (NSW) in Australia this February, organizers announced on Wednesday.
Morfi, also recognized by her artistic alter ego, Souli Anatoli, will perform at the Antipodes Festival in Melbourne on Saturday, February 22, followed by the Greek Festival of Sydney on Sunday, February 23.
The 36-year-old artist from Volos rose to fame in the early 2010s as the lead vocalist of the Greek band Imam Baildi. Her dynamic stage presence and distinctive voice were instrumental in shaping the band’s signature fusion of contemporary pop and traditional Greek music, earning them acclaim both in Greece and internationally.
As a solo artist, Morfi has continued to break musical boundaries, seamlessly blending traditional and modern elements. From heartfelt ballads to lively swing-infused tunes, her versatility and artistic innovation have cemented her reputation as a leading figure in the Greek entertainment industry, captivating audiences of all generations.
“We are excited that our 2025 program will be headlined by the talented Rena Morfi. She brings something truly special to our festival stage and complements the 75+ hours of programming that the festival team has put together,” said Jorge Menidis, director of the Antipodes Festival, in an official statement.
Nia Karteris, chair of the Greek Festival of Sydney, echoed Menidis’ enthusiasm, saying: “Her performances are full of life and soul, and we’re thrilled to have her here in Australia. She will light up Darling Harbour and be the cherry on top of our landmark February event!”
