Real Madrid expect defender Eder Militao to be sidelined for around two weeks after suffering an adductor injury in his right leg.
The Brazil international could miss La Liga games against Elche, Girona and Athletic Club as well as a Champions League clash with Greek club Olympiacos.
The centre-back sustained the injury while on international duty with Brazil this month. During the second half of his side’s 1-1 friendly draw with Tunisia on Tuesday, Militao pulled up injured while receiving a pass on the halfway line before going to ground and being treated by medical staff. He was replaced on the hour mark by Cruzeiro defender Fabricio Bruno.
Madrid confirmed the injury on Wednesday.
Militao has made 13 appearances in all competitions for Madrid this season, recording one goal and one assist.
The 27-year-old has been dealt with by long-term injuries since joining Madrid from Portuguese club Porto in 2019. He sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee in August 2023 and returned in March 2024, but tore his ACL in his right knee in November of that year and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
He was fit to start to the 2025-26 campaign and earned a re-call to the Brazil squad by former Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti in October after spending more than a year out of the side due to injury.
This comes after Madrid centre-back Dean Huijsen withdrew from the Spain squad on Sunday after picking up a groin issue. Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and forward Kylian Mbappe also both pulled out of the France squad with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively.
Madrid expect Camavinga and Mbappe to be available for their La Liga visit to Elche on Sunday, but Antonio Rudiger, Aurelien Tchouameni, Dani Carvajal and Franco Mastantuono all remain sidelined.
