Random Ruminations from the Food Scene February 2026

I think we’d all agree that Winter stayed colder for longer, but it feels like we’ve survived the worst of it. Cheers!

*Good news for those of you with a sweet tooth, All Things Chocolate and More, the Richmond Hill-based sweet shop who has expanded across the region the last few years (with a spot in Rincon) is finally moving into Savannah’s city limits. They are working on a space on Mall Blvd at Waters. Perfect pit-stop for a coffee or a nosh. We’ll keep you posted on their progress. See more about what they are about here.

*We got a look at the Charleston location of the impeccably beautiful Marbled & Fin Steakhouse headed to the corner of Houston and Oglethorpe downtown (photo above). They are owned by the Neighborhood Dining Group. Same group behind Husk. Savannah is in for a treat. I had a great chat with their President about what you can expect and will share that in the next few days.

*Savannah’s Eden Supper Club, who in a very short time had established themselves as one of Savannah’s best small spots for dinner has announced their last day of service at their current location (on Whitaker Street adjacent to Victory North) will be February 28th. Their announcement via social media promises a ‘next chapter’ in a new location. Let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later.

*I’ve got to give a HUGE shout out to Executive Chef Derrick Fulmer and the entire team at Pritchard and Company for hosting the first dinner of the year for the Eat It and Like It Supper Club last week. Simply exceptional. (photo below). For those that don’t know, Pritchard and Co is the group that opened on Broughton Street with the new menu from the old Starland Cafe. Many of that spots classics remain, but they’ve added a few things and become Broughton Street’s best sandwich shop. They will be rolling out dinner service later this year.

*I had lunch at Pooler’s Miss Sophie’s a couple of weeks ago. Wonderful Southern comfort food and more. You may not know, Teri Bell, Miss Sophie’s founder, sold the business to our friends at Big Bon Bodega a few months back. The restaurant has gotten a little bit of a makeover and some adjusted branding, but it remains some of the best fried chicken in Pooler. It is located inside the Mighty 8th Museum in Pooler, but you don’t need a ticket to the museum to Eat It and Like It.

*And from the “oh, by the way” department, speaking of fried chicken in Pooler. Do you know about Phat Girlz? Inside the Chevron gas station? Check them out here and order yourself some new yoga pants.

*Our #fancyfishfry (Hashtag Fancy Fish Fry) is on Sunday, March 1st at Tubby’s Tankhouse in Thunderbolt. All you can eat fried fish from 5 great chefs. Including StrangeBird, Sobremesa and Boars Head Grill….. Find a link to more information and tickets here.

*BBQ lovers need to put Charleston’s Palmira BBQ on their short list. This spot in West Ashley is Texas style BBQ with a Puerto Rican twist. My short video is below. Very much worth a weekend drive.

*Speaking of BBQ, Bordertown BBQ is set to open in Beaufort over the next week or so. There is a lot of buzz up that way about it. We’ll be trying it soon and will let you know.

*If you’ve not made plans to join us next week at the Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival, you should. There are events and demos in all prices ranges including their Main Event at Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Saturday the 28th. That is always a family friendly great time.

*Eat It and Like It celebrated 16 years on February 3rd. We celebrated with 2 scoops of Leopold’s finest. Thanks for hanging out.

*Meanwhile, we’ve got a few ‘Save the Dates’ for you in March. Two are related. Two are just ‘you need to know about this’.

*Two Birds Greek Street Food are hosting not one but TWO Greek Independence Day celebrations this year. On March 25th they’ll be at Lone Wolf Lounge in Savannah. On Sunday, March 29th they’ll be at Side Hustle Brewing in Bluffton. Both events will feature special menus, a Greek DJ, dancers and a marketplace for gifts. Lone Wolf has made a custom cocktail menu for them, Side Hustle Brewing is making a special brew to pair with their already delicious Greek food.

*The 29th Hilton Head Island Wingfest is set for Saturday, March 21st. Roughly 2 dozen vendors will be there serving their best wings. It is easily the best Chicken Wing Festival in the region.

*Back here in Savannah, Plant Riverside District’s Stone and Webster Chophouse is hosting a “Cuts and Cabs” pairing dinner on Tuesday, March 3rd. Find more information about that here.

*PRD also tells me they are bringing back their monthly tequila pairing dinners in the Spring. Those are exceptional meals and always at a great price (last year below $100 per person). We’ll keep you posted.

*Chef Miguel at Emporium Kitchen at the Perry Lane Hotel is also hosting monthly ‘World Showcase’ wine pairing dinners. Those are held the 3rd Thursday of the month. See more here.

*Savannah’s Veratina has announced they will begin offering Happy Hour and dinner service on Mondays and Tuesdays very soon. Keep and eye out for that. More Italian food is always good.
