A major 48-hour protest by Greek farmers will block travel throughout Greece from January 7-8. Farmers are escalating previous protests against a proposed EU-Mercosur trade deal along with national level agricultural policy grievances. Many major highways will be blocked as well as border entry points. Roadblocks are expected to close the Bralos junction, Thessaloniki-Athens national road, western Macedonia, Rio-Antirio tolls, and Nea Malgara near Thessaloniki. Other locations will also be affected.
