The prominent downtown Campbell restaurant corner that for years housed Opa! will retain a focus on Greek cuisine.
The owners of Elia, a highly rated restaurant with locations in Pleasanton, Walnut Creek and San Carlos, are expanding into the space and have already embarked on a renovation.
“We’re targeting late January to early February for opening, and I definitely want everything ready before Valentine’s Day,” co-owner Fatih Ulas said.
Noting the popularity of Sunday brunch in downtown Campbell, where the city hosts its large weekly farmers market, he said: “The plan is to go big on brunch and even a full breakfast menu on Saturdays and Sundays.”
Ulas worked with executive chef Mehmet Duygu to create the original restaurant, opening the first location in Pleasanton in 2021, followed by a second in Walnut Creek. The San Carlos restaurant opened in late 2024.
Elia boasts a large lineup of shareable mezethes, including the showy saganaki, and diners rave on social media about the lamb chop, octopus, sea bass and seafood paella entrees.
The Elia team will also take over the Mo’s eatery space next door to the Opa! space, and operate that as the fourth location of their casual concept, Sultan’s Kebab. The others are in Livermore, Pleasanton and Danville.
This is a developing story. Come back for updates.
