Posthumous Album of Greek Music Icon Dionysis Savvopoulos

A posthumous album celebrating the legendary Greek singer-songwriter Dionysis Savvopoulos has been released under the title “The Rock of Our Future” (To Rok tou Mellonós Mas). The album, produced by Orestis Plakidis and released by Panik Oxygen, revisits sixteen of Savvopoulos’ timeless songs through a contemporary lens, paying homage to his artistic influence and visionary spirit.

Savvopoulos, often described as the pioneer of the Greek troubadours, left behind a powerful body of work that continues to resonate deeply across generations. His songs, blending poetry, politics, and social commentary, shaped modern Greek music and culture.

A Celebration of Legacy Through Collaboration

The album brings together an impressive roster of Greek performers, each interpreting Savvopoulos’ music in their own distinctive style. Among them are Spyros Grammenos, Giannis Zouganelis, Tzortzia Kefala, Klavdia, Panos Mouzourakis, Giorgos Mylonas, Eva Xenou, Fotis Siotas, and Manolis Famellos.

In addition to these new interpretations, the album includes two original recordings by Savvopoulos himself: “To Kileler” and “Ta Paidia pou Xathikan” (“The Children Who Were Lost”). These rare tracks add emotional depth to a collection that bridges past and present, memory and melody.

“The Rock of Our Future” is now available on all major digital streaming platforms and will soon be released on CD and vinyl. More than a compilation of beloved songs, it stands as a heartfelt tribute to Savvopoulos’ enduring influence on Greek music and his vision for a creative, forward-looking cultural identity.
