SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The owner of a popular downtown Greek restaurant has passed away.

According to a post on Olympia Cafe’s Facebook page Saturday, longtime owner Nick Pappas passed away.

“His love, passion, hard work, and humor made him a one of a kind. There are no words right now to express our sorrow,” the post said.

Located on River Street, Olympia Cafe has been a staple in Savannah for over 30 years.

Over the years, the cafe has also been on the big screen. Most recently, in 2021 when Olympia Cafe was turned into “Cafe de Flore” as the film “Devotion” was being filmed along parts of River Street.
