Due to a 24-hour strike called by the Panhellenic Federation of Journalists’ Unions (POESY) and its member unions, including the Athens Journalists’ Union (ESIEA) and other regional bodies, no news items and audiovisual material will be posted on our website from 05:00 on Thursday, June 12, until 05:00 on Friday, June 13.
Press unions in the country are pressing for collective bargaining agreements for journalists working in public media outlets, higher entry-level salaries, a restoration of extra monthly pay (in the public sector media) that were eliminated with the first memorandum bailout, as well as other institutional demands. The strike will affect much of the media and press sector in Greece for 24 hours.
