Music, food, and vendors at the 33rd annual Wilmington Greek Festival

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The 33rd annual Wilmington Greek Festival is back this weekend at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

The festival started Friday with music, vendors, and Greek food including lamb, chicken, gyros and assorted pastries.

For those who cannot stay long, there is a drive-thru for people to grab some food to-go.

Proceeds benefit The Good Shepherd Center on Martin Street and The Bread for Life Senior Pantry on North Kerr Avenue.

Lee King is co-chair of the Wilmington Greek Festival.

He says there’s something for everyone to learn and celebrate the Greek culture.

“The history of the faith and a lot of the symbols and iconography and things that we have inside our parish. The Greeks have been doing this for thousands of years, food, faith, and fellowship. It’s just a great way to learn more about that culture,” King said.

The festival continues through Sunday afternoon at 5. There is a $5 admission fee for adults, but kids are admitted free. No pets are allowed.
