The concert titled ‘100 Years of Mimi Plessas: A Living Tribute with Dimitris Basis’ will be hosted at the iconic Adelaide Town Hall on Friday, May 22 at 7.30pm.
The great work of Plessas will be put on display with Greek singer Dimitris Basis to provide vocals.
He will be joined on stage by conductor George Ellis and Maria Yiakoulis, flautist and singer, accompanied by a full symphony orchestra and traditional Greek instruments.
The show is musical tribute to the great Greek composer, whose imprint has remained indelible in modern Greek music and whose melodies have been loved by audiences of different generations, both within and outside the borders of Greece.
As a piano soloist, conductor and composer, Plessas has received universal recognition in his homeland and many international distinctions.
He wrote hundreds of songs, collaborated with leading performers and musically “dressed” more than 100 films and 70 theatrical productions.
Through his music, he spoke to the hearts of millions of people, including Greeks in the Diaspora, and especially in Australia.
