A black and gold military-style jacket once worn by Michael Jackson is set to be auctioned next month.
Experts believe the jacket could bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars. Michael Jackson passed away in 2009 at the age of 50 due to cardiac arrest. His death came just weeks before he was set to begin a sold-out concert series in London.
What else is available at the auction?
Over 350 rare and unique music items will be available at the auction, which is scheduled for Friday, November 15th. These items include memorabilia from famous musicians such as John Lennon, George Michael, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix, along with pieces from the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Another item up for auction is a framed set of handwritten lyrics from his 1982 hit song, “Beat It.” These lyrics, reportedly written by Jackson himself, are estimated to sell for between $52,000 to $104,000.
The jacket is part of a private collection of Norwegian rapper Omer Bhatti, a close friend of the Jackson family. It is expected to sell for between $260,000 and $520,000.
John Lennon’s first amplifier, a 1962 Vox, is expected to sell for between $130,000 and $260,000. A booklet titled Life with the Beatles, signed by all four members of the band, could fetch between $13,000 and $26,000.
Earlier this year, a guitar used by Lennon set a new world record for the highest price paid for an instrument in Beatles memorabilia. The winning bid was almost $2 million.
The 12-string Hootenanny acoustic guitar, used during the recording of the Beatles‘ 1965 album and film “Help!” was found in an attic after remaining unseen and unused for more than 50 years.
Also included in the auction is a polyphonic analog synthesizer used by Prince. It is estimated to sell for between $65,000 and $130,000.
Additionally, a cream guitar signed by Noel Gallagher and used during early Oasis performances is expected to sell for between $32,000 and $65,000.
Excitement over the music auction
Mark Hochman, the music specialist at Propstore, expressed excitement over their upcoming music auction. “We’re excited to return for Propstore’s largest music sale yet, featuring over 350 amazing lots including exceptional pieces from Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Prince, Michael Jackson, Stormzy and many others,” Hochman said.
He also highlighted the collection of Oasis guitars. “We’re especially proud to present the biggest collection of Oasis guitars ever brought to market, giving fans a chance to own a piece of British music history.”
The music memorabilia will be auctioned on November 15th as part of a four-day event. In addition to music items, the auction will feature a variety of film and TV memorabilia.
