Mbappe Scores Four as Real Madrid Break Greek Jinx; PSG Beat Tottenham 5–3

Udaipur, Nov 27 ,2025: Real Madrid’s dominance in Europe remains undisputed. The 15-time champions of the continent’s top club competition have fully earned their title as the “Kings of Europe.” Yet, the Greek city of Piraeus continued to challenge that crown. Olympiacos, the club based in Piraeus, has never allowed Real Madrid to win on their home turf. In fact, Real have never registered a single victory on Greek soil.

Ahead of the match, head coach Xabi Alonso was reminded of this statistic at the press conference. He responded calmly, saying, “I hope we can win tomorrow. There is a first time for everything.” Kylian Mbappe seemed to take that message to heart. The French star produced the second-fastest hat-trick in Champions League history, determined to break the long-standing jinx.

Even so, the win did not come easily for Alonso’s team. The final scoreline says it all. Real Madrid edged Olympiacos 4–3 after falling behind early in the contest.

Mbappe Shines With Four Goals in Greece

Olympiacos started strongly as Portuguese midfielder Chiquinho scored in the 8th minute after brilliant team play. But after that, it was all about Kylian Mbappe. The Real Madrid star scored a hat-trick within minutes — in the 22nd, 24th and 29th minutes. He added his fourth goal in the 59th minute after the break.

Olympiacos fought back as well. Mehdi Taremi made it 3–2 with a goal in the 52nd minute. Later, Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kabir scored for the hosts when they were trailing 4–2.

Mbappe scored his hat-trick in just 7 minutes. This is his fifth Champions League hat-trick — three for Real Madrid and two for PSG. Only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has a faster hat-trick in the competition, scoring three goals in 6 minutes 12 seconds against Rangers in 2022. Mbappe completed his hat-trick last night in 6 minutes 42 seconds.

The French forward is the top scorer in both the Champions League (9 goals) and La Liga (13 goals) this season. He has 22 goals in 18 matches in all competitions.

Mbappe’s fourth goal also put him alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. They are now the only two players to score four goals in a single Champions League match for Real Madrid. In earlier editions of the competition, Alfredo Di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas also scored four goals in one match each.

After securing Real Madrid’s first win on Greek soil, Mbappe said, “It was very important to win again. For a team like us, three games without a win is a lot. The match was difficult, it is hard to win here. It feels great. It is always a pleasure to score.”

Real were under pressure after a loss to Liverpool and draws against Elche and Rayo Vallecano. Coach Xabi Alonso also faced criticism for his playing style and rumors about issues with players. After the win, Alonso said, “Everyone is united. The season will be long and difficult. Anything can happen. Today we took another step forward.”

Real Madrid now stand fifth in the Champions League league stage with 12 points from 5 matches.

‘Five-Star’ PSG Win 5–3 in Paris

There was another thriller at Parc des Princes. Defending Champions League winners PSG defeated Tottenham Hotspur 5–3 in a match full of drama, even though Tottenham took the lead twice.

Richarlison opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 35th minute, but PSG equalised through Vitinha on the stroke of halftime. Kolo Muani put Tottenham ahead again in the 50th minute. PSG then responded with four goals in the next 15 minutes.

Vitinha equalised again in the 53rd minute and completed his first career hat-trick in the 76th minute. Fabian Ruiz and Willian Pacho scored PSG’s other goals in the 59th and 65th minutes. Tottenham’s final goal came from Kolo Muani in the 72nd minute.

PSG went down to 10 men in added time after substitute Lucas Hernandez was sent off for elbowing Xavi Simmons in the 93rd minute.

PSG are second in the Champions League points table with 12 points from 5 matches.
